Planned Giving - A Way to Leave a Lasting Legacy
Cancer leaves a lasting impact on us. However, now there is a way to leave a positive and lasting legacy for your loved ones who have been helped by Ann’s Place. In 2018 the Board of Directors created the Ann’s Place Endowment. Its purpose is to supplement our annual fund raising and help endow our programs and our facility for years to come.
There are many ways that a donor can make a lasting legacy. A gift through a will, life insurance policy or from a Qualified Charitable Distribution are just a few options available. Join us as we grow our endowment to create sustainable income for programs, yearly maintenance, and capital improvements.

Wendee’s Story
“My relationship with Ann’s Place reaches back to its inception; Ann Olsen was my dearest friend, and in her memory, I have dedicated innumerable hours to support the organization’s critical work. My connection took on new meaning for me in September of 2016 when I received a cancer diagnosis. To say I am passionate about Ann’s Place is an understatement. The agency has had a transformative effect on me and members of my support and wellness groups have echoed similar sentiments. It is my hope that with my planned gift, Ann’s Place will live on in perpetuity.”
What Type of Planned Gift is Right for You?
Bequests and Estate Plan Gifts
A donor may make a bequest or gift through his/her estate by including a provision in a will or living trust, or by naming Ann’s Place, Inc. as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. The amount left to Ann’s Place can be expressed as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the assets to be given.
Sample Bequest Language:
For a general bequest
“I give % of my estate (or ‘the sum of $’) to Ann’s Place, located at 80 Saw Mill Rd, Danbury, CT 06810, EIN 22‑3181832, to be used for its general charitable purposes.”
For a residual bequest
“I give all (or ___%) of the residue of my estate to Ann’s Place, located at 80 Saw Mill Rd, Danbury, CT 06810, EIN 22‑3181832.”
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA
If you are 73.5 or older, a required minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA is another great way to make a charitable gift to Ann’s Place this year. You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified charitable institution without having to pay income taxes on the money. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charity rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short. This law no longer has an expiration date so you are free to make annual gifts to Ann’s Place this year and well into the future.
Charitable Lead Trusts
A Charitable Lead Trust makes an annual payment to Ann’s Place for a period of years and at the end of the term, the remaining assets go to the donor’s children or other beneficiary.
Life Income Gifts
A life income gift allows a donor to give assets to Ann’s Place while providing the donor with income for a period of time before Ann’s Place is permitted to use the gift.
Charitable Gift Annuities
In exchange for an outright gift, Ann’s Place agrees by contract to pay a fixed amount each year to the donor or another beneficiary for life.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
A donor may establish a trust from which he/she (or their beneficiaries) receive annual payments for life and/or a specific term of years. At the end of the term, the remainder of the trust assets go to Ann’s Place for the purposes designated by the donor.
